Dwarf rats are a genetically different variety of rat, measuring about one-third the size of standard rats and staying the size of a 5-8 week old standard rat their entire lives. They are generally more active, have larger eyes, shorter tails, and often live longer with fewer health problems, but require careful dietary management to avoid obesity.
